Creating a first-of-its-kind Snapchat campaign that included a live psychic tarot card reading for fans

Overview

With Snapchat becoming one of the fastest-growing social platforms for millennials, and a popular tool for movie social media marketing campaigns, Digital Media Management teamed up with Lionsgate to create a first-of-its-kind social marketing campaign for fans on the platform, that took live social experiences to the next level.

Objectives

To drive awareness of the release of Lionsgate’s horror film, Jessabelle, Digital Media Management decided to create a social media marketing campaign for the movie that lived solely on Snapchat. Tarot card readings played a key plot point in the movie’s storyline, so on the day of the movie’s release, our Snapchat social media campaign culminated with a never-before-done initiative… a LIVE psychic tarot card reading for fans! Fans were encouraged to snap us their questions and a real-life psychic was brought into our offices to read their cards and snap back a personalized 10-second video their reading.

Results

We were inundated with thousands of snaps from excited fans, and we were able to get through hundreds of readings. It was an incredibly successful social media marketing experience that was engaging to fans, and drove awareness of the movie’s release date.
