We’ll call it the start. Digital Media Management was thrilled to partner with Searchlight Pictures on the social media campaign for their big 2022-2023 awards contender, The Banshees of Inisherin, starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Our team was tasked with crafting a tone of voice that paid respect to the dark comedic nature of the film but also showcased that we can be a little gilly-gooly. Our social creatives invited fans further into Inisherin with an engaging GIPHY collection and eye-catching Instagram backgrounds. With a top-notch cast and filmmaker, who wouldn’t want to grab a pint with these lads and lasses!

OBJECTIVES

Tapping into the Irish zaniness of The Banshees of Inisherin, our campaign voice channeled a playful and dynamic tone to ensure that our copywriting and community management was anything but feckin’ boring. To truly reflect the unhinged humor of Martin McDonagh’s story, we created a glossary of phrases used in the film to craft copy that felt distinctly Irish and unique to the world of Inisherin. We brought Inisherin to all corners of the internet, interacting with fan art, reviews, and reactions to keep fans gobsmacked and engaged. Beyond fan engagement, we utilized our voice to interact with brands, allowing us to establish a fan-first tone for talent. By jumping on Twitter trends, we also inserted ourselves in zeitgeist conversations to reach broader audiences.

We also created a collection of GIFs and Stickers which have garnered over 1.5 million views to date. And with the positive reception that The Banshees of Inisherin received from fans and press alike, we created dynamic Instagram Story templates that highlighted the positive sentiment that the film was receiving. By staying true to the film’s tone in our copy and pairing it with purposeful creatives, we maintained a pristine posting schedule throughout the theatrical window and into the upcoming awards season. 

RESULTS

With a friendship worth fighting for, we were able to successfully launch Searchlight Pictures’ big awards film via the social media campaign for The Banshees of Inisherin. The film was crowned Certified Fresh, cementing it as a strong contender for the 2022-2023 awards season!
